On September 29, 2018, Anson and Jia Yi said their vows on the lawn at Botanica Mansion in Balik Pulau, Penang — and asked us to capture every part of the day, from quiet morning details through to the last sparkler of the night.
We started close: the rings resting on the invitation card, the purple-themed bouquet, the lace of the dress. Then the drone rose to take in the mansion’s colonial architecture and the garden layout in full, before we followed the couple down to their outdoor ceremony — white Chiavari chairs, a floral arch, and vows read aloud and captured with natural sound rather than staged narration.
The signing of the marriage certificate and the ring exchange got the same close, unhurried treatment. As evening fell, the mood shifted with it — warm string lighting replaced the afternoon sun, and the reception opened with a confetti-filled aisle walk, followed by cake cutting and a sparkler send-off that carried the couple’s hashtag, #WhereJYBehlongs, into the night.
It’s a full-day wedding film in the truest sense — quiet preparation, outdoor ceremony, and a reception that doesn’t let up until the last guest has cheered them off.
